I use to have a 73 super beetle with a 1600 dual port and would drive it in the winter. Then when summer came around I would take the motor out and put it in my street legal dune buggy for the summer. How funny that it only took a few hours to take the motor out of the beetle and put it the dune buggy. Great post Beetle Fan, It really brings back memories.

Hi, My name is Harry Heydon and I am a beetle enthusiast living in South Africa. I own a stock 1966 1300cc (under restoration) and a stock looking '66 model powered by a modified golf (rabbit) 1800 8v motor and fitted with disc brakes. You can visit me at http://www.vwperformance.blogspot.com/ and get a glimpse of what S.A VW lovers are all about.
Of course, I think that we all are united in our enjoyment of these endearing little cars and it has been my experience that true blue car lovers seem to be a lot friendlier than mere mortals!
Kind regards to you all
